Z-Type Installation Simplified Pipeline Leak Detection

Jan 02, 2026 Leave a message

The Z-type non-intrusive installation requires no downtime or invasive modifications, reducing on-site deployment time and minimizing operational downtime. Its diagonal signal path provides wide cross-sectional coverage, high sensitivity to micro-leakage (≥0.5% of nominal flow), and effectively suppresses interference from environmental pipeline noise. Designed for long-term reliability, the system uses corrosion-resistant sensors with a service life of up to 12 years, making it an ideal solution for municipal water supply networks and industrial fluid transport pipelines.

How to install via Z type?

1.Pipe Surface Preparation

Thoroughly remove grease, rust, and scale from the designated pipe section to ensure a uniform contact surface. Lightly sand any uneven areas with fine sandpaper to eliminate surface defects that may obstruct ultrasonic signal propagation.

2.Z-Type Transducer Arrangement

The Z-type can measure pipes with a diameter range of 100mm (4'') to approximately 5000mm (200''). In actual meter installation, it is recommended to use the Z-method for pipes with a diameter of more than 300mm (12'').

3.Coupling and Fixing

Apply sufficient coupling compound between the transducer and the pipe surface to eliminate air gaps and aid in ultrasonic signal transmission.

4.Calibration and Baseline Establishment

Power on the flow meter and input key pipe parameters (material, diameter, wall thickness) and fluid characteristics (density, viscosity). Activate the leak detection calibration mode and record the baseline flow curve for subsequent anomaly comparison.
