Working Principle
Sound Wave Transmission
The clamp-on flow meter consists of two ultrasonic transducers—one acts as a transmitter, and the other as a receiver. The transmitter sends ultrasonic sound waves through the pipe or tube wall and into the flowing liquid.
Sound Wave Reflection
These sound waves travel through the fluid and are reflected back towards the receiver. The speed of sound in the fluid affects the time it takes for the sound waves to return.
Flow Calculation
By measuring the time it takes for the sound waves to travel from the transmitter to the receiver and back, the flow meter calculates the velocity of the fluid. This velocity, combined with the pipe’s diameter, allows the meter to determine the flow rate.
